Woot! Another Christmas accomplished! This year was extra tough at our household with my other half having thrown his back :( He’s feeling better now, but it was so hard to watch him hobble around knowing that he was being tortured by all the things he could be doing.
This year, for the girls (read: teenagery) it was the year of the gift card. And oh how they loved it! I always thought gift cards to be a bit impersonal but since they hinted around so much that the wanted to pick out their own stuff, we obliged. For the most part it was a good idea. I say most part because they still needed to be driven to the mall and most times wanted stuff that exceeded their gift card amounts. Heh.
Justin was really into the Christmas/Santa thing this year and he fully understood that behaving naughty was not good. Every time he would do something nice he would walk around shouting “Santa, are you watching?!!” It was too cute. He got all the mess…err, toys he wanted and my living room is completely kids zone. I only get bothered by it for a second or two because I realize that in a blink of an eye he will no longer be little. He’s already going to be 4. FOUR!!! I can still close my eyes and feel him kicking around my belly. Ugh, make it stop!
Anywhoo, this turned into somewhat of a personal post didn’t it? Right. So I’ve managed to set up my Print Portfolio (most of it, at least) so if you want to check out some of the stuff I’ve designed for print click on over. I should also mention that some of these designs are available for purchase (exclusively) via For Always Invitations. If you would like to contact me for a print quote, please don’t hesitate to ask.
That’s all for now, I’ll be adding more to the freebies section this week and I’ll also be posting about a redesign I’ve just launched for Dragonflies and Ladybugs. I’m so excited about this project because I got to work with one of my favorite clients -Robyn. It’s so much fun working with her! But that’s another post, for another day.
Hi there! I hope you are all having a fabulous holiday season and aren’t rushing too much and feeling stressed out! I’m taking it a bit too easy over here actually -we JUST put up the tree. And then only because Santa wouldn’t visit otherwise! Nothing bah humbuggy about it, there’s just been so much stuff to do! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, the best ever actually, and I’m looking forward to Christmas & New Years being more of the same.
Speaking of New Years, one of my New Years Resolutions for this year is to stop getting so caught up in everything that I forget those things that are the most important to me. When I first started Girliebits Designs, I wanted to closely associate myself and lend my talents to those causes and charities near and dear to my heart, such as breast cancer, victims of domestic abuse, and teenage pregnancy. As time went on I found myself so caught up in work that I barely had time to come up and breathe to realize that I had fallen short of that goal.
I feel very lucky in that respect, being able to keep myself busy doing something I absolutely love. But, I really now want to focus on getting back to giving back. So, for those of you wondering what the business name change was all about, that was the main source of inspiration. I’ll be updating the site soon with more information, I just thought I’d do a quick post to share what was on my mind for now!
I’d love to hear from you if you have any comments or suggestions for me on this topic!
Bad blogger, bad blogger! It’s been pretty quiet around here for a couple of weeks and I thought I’d stop by and show you a few things I’ve been working on. First up, this little illustration I made of a school bus and some little trees. I had a little creative time the other day and got inspired… might do some more it was so much fun! My favorite is the little cow, isn’t he so cute?!! His name is Fernandito….

Ahem, yeah so too much fun with that…I also whipped up this little logo for a fictional organic handmade toy company “Munkie Bunkie” Don’t ask where I got that name from! lol

Now here’s a sneak peek at another project I’m working on inspired by Justin Timberlake’s SNL skit, uh…something about a box lol. It’s got a scrapbook-ey feel to it because I just got my Mary Engelbreit’s Home Companion magazine in the mail and there’s so much eye candy in there I just couldn’t help myself! (How these two correlate is beyond me!)

And lastly, I’m working with the lovely Allison on another supercute children’s clothing boutique and I don’t think she’ll dig it if I show you what I’m working on before it’s ready but I’ll just say, It’s ADORABLE. I can’t wait to show.
I’m on a creative streak lately and so I’m gonna go with it wherever it takes me. I think it’s this fall weather. I just love autumn, I get to hide in wear all my comfy sweaters, watch my all time favorite movie and it’s just really family time around here. I love it.
Hope you’re all enjoying yourselves, stay tuned for another freemade coming up soon!
Hello there! I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend, this beautiful fall weather reminds me why this is one of my favorite times of the year. If only it would last a little longer!
I got to thinking this morning about how worried I was posting in regards to how busy we were and how neither Phaedra or I would be able to take on any new clients for the remainder of the year. I was worried that new visitors, or prospective clients would be put off by that and think “hmph! I’ll just take my business elsewhere, who do these girlies think they are- too busy? BAH!”
(Or something like that)
But time and time again I’ve been touched by our wonderful readers, friends and clients with their understanding and even flattery- letting us know that they understand that busy=good and by their willingness to stick around until our schedules free up. So much so that (at the suggestion of one of our clients, actually) we’ve created a waiting list in addition to the queue.
It honestly moves me and makes me feel all warm inside knowing you guys feel that we are worth the wait! So thank you dear clients, future clients, readers and most of all FRIENDS. Thank you for taking this ride with us and stay tuned for exciting things to come!
